Sports Country Listener Numbers Increase in June

The word is slowly getting out about the great things happening at Sports Country Radio! Station manager Gene Gumbs announced today that the number of overall listeners increased in June. After registering 652 listeners the first month the station was on the air, the number jumped to 790 in June.

“I’m excited,” Gumbs said. “We’ve only been on the air a little over two months. It’s great to see the numbers climbing already. Our live morning show, The Wake-up Call, has been the most consistent draw. However, our weekday sports programming is also gathering a consistent following as well.”

Gumbs says the station has been working hard to secure more programming. “We added four new sports programs this month and now have thirteen in our lineup. I hope to increase that by a few more before the end of the summer.”

The station also broadcasts an hour-long audio version of The Pete Mezzetti Show on Saturday evenings at 6 PM, a public affairs television show broadcast on the Connecticut shoreline for nearly fifteen years.

“We received great e-mail feedback from some of our listeners, and we’re taking their comments to heart as we continue to refine things. Adding some local programming was one of the ideas that was suggested, and Pete’s relaxed style fits in perfectly with the station. In addition to that, we’ve started live broadcasts of Middletown American Legion baseball.”

Sports Country Radio is based in Middletown, Connecticut, and has sports programming every weekday from 8 AM to 6 PM. The station then plays classic country music all evening and on the weekends. In addition to the The Pete Mezzetti Show on Saturdays, the station also recently added two hours of country gospel music every Sunday morning from 9-11 AM.
